Knowledge Organization Systems (KOS) such as taxonomies, ontologies, knowledge graphs, and metadata schemas are critical pieces of infrastructure that help organizations achieve their business goals.
This Roundtable series addresses how we can establish the business value for KOS and how we can build the necessary capabilities to deliver business value. This series of three events features a team of distinguished panelists who will bring insights from their experience, and there will be opportunities for participants to share their own experience.
Bob Kasenchak, Patrick Lambe and Stephanie Lemieux join Ahren Lehnert to discuss why organizations should develop their knowledge organization capabilities and what it takes to build and sustain them.
This series is intended to foster participant engagement and input. Participants will engage through surveys, breakout room discussions, and question-and-answer chat.
Note: To preserve privacy and encourage openness, these events will not be recorded and materials will not be available on demand afterwards. These free events will be hosted by Dovecot Studio, Factor, Straits Knowledge and Synaptica.

The first session in our series covers how KOS business value can be framed and measured. Participants will then engage in facilitated breakout room discussions related to their business focus, to explore how the business focus of a KOS can help to identify the best way to communicate the business value.
Our panelists, Ahren, Bob, Patrick and Stephanie, will bring together the key points from the breakout sessions and open the event to a full group discussion.
The session will be followed by a survey on the capabilities required to deliver this business value, in order to gather real-world use case data from participants and the wider community.

In our second session of The Business Value of KOS Roundtable series, Ahren Lehnert, Bob Kasenchak, Patrick Lambe and Stephanie Lemieux, investigate what it takes to build a knowledge organization capability within the business and how to prioritise those capabilities. We will present the results of the survey shared after session one, explain the knowledge organization capabilities framework, and have our panelists weigh in on the results. Roundtable participants will be encouraged to participate in the discussion.
